Feedback Strategies

I feel that this was a really important article to read because I can be hesitant in giving feedback at times. This helped show me that praise is good but students need specific constructive criticism that will help them improve their blogs. Constructive criticism is key here. It also made me ponder on the images the blogger uses, if the post looks like a summary rather than actual effort etc. It made me think of the little things that could make a blog better. Lets take the writing style for example, one can look at the past, future, and present tenses used, if the language is bland, ho powerful the writing is etc. It is often little things that can make a post come off stronger or weaker and this includes things like grammar and proofreading as well. I think I will be a better feedback giver now.  Constructive Feedback  Image Source: https://www.personio.com/product/feedback/

Feedback Thoughts

I really appreciated reading these articles on feedback. I also like how we revisited the concept of growth mindset. Firstly, the person receiving feedback should keep an open mind to receiving it and believe that they can do better. They have to believe that they can do better, become better, and improve their skills. They must be willing to take criticism on their work. After receiving the constructive criticism they then must take the initiate to make a change. Believing in making a change and asking how to is not enough. One must know how to make the change for themselves and then actually do it. As for the person criticizing, it is so important to have a heart. The point is not to belittle the other person but to tell them how to rise. The point is to show them how to do better. It is also important to note what seems like a weakness to an outsider might not be one to the receiver. So it is important to not force feedback on someone. I will keep this in mind during the semester
