Topic Brainstorm

1. Rama and Sita

I have heard a lot about this couple. Although I am not Hindu I know many people from India and also encountered these words over the television. I do not know much about this topic at all apart from the fact that this is a couple I think. I want to know where these names come from and what this couple represents. I also want to know what the religious or traditional background of this couple is and why it is mentioned so much during celebrations, etc.

2. Women of The Epics

Being a feminist, the topic of women always interests me. I want to know about the tales of women, their roles, thoughts, case studies etc. I am very much interested on this take and I know it is wide enough a subject that I can do research on it. I think I would have a lot of fun exploring this topic and writing stories on it.

3. Karma

The topic of karma is one I love. What goes around comes around. Saying that feels so good. I would love to hear different Karma stories based on Indian Epics. I would have a lot of fun doing case studies, learning the importance of karma in that culture, and where the idea of karma came from. I would also want to know the religious and traditional background of what karma means in a society.

4. Love Stories

Love is very much a universal feeling. This is once again a topic I would have a lot of research to go from. I would love to read storybooks on this topic and what love means in Indian culture, etc. I could read on the religious, cultural, and personal accounts of love since it means something different to everyone. In short, I would have fun reading this topic. Especially in a time like today.

Introduction To Me

Hello everyone! My name is Zille Huma and I am a psychology major on premed track. The coolest thing about my major is how much you come to understand people through psychology. Oklahoma actually has a shortage of psychologists and mental health is a real issue in the United States. I feel privileged to have been taught on this subject. This actually relates to one of the coolest classes I took last semester called Abnormal Psychology. I really recommend it! We went over casebooks of real medical diagnosis and mental health diseases. It was truly a fascinating class because we got to see how psychology is applied to the real world. One of my biggest accomplishments last semester was surviving. Studying at home was twice as hard but in the end it was worth it. This year will be my last at OU. My career goals include medicine and innovation. I want to cure people but also innovate new medicine, and newer techniques!  My hobbies include doing henna/mehendi designs on hands and arms. It

Week #3 Story: Rama and Sita

Authors Note: I wrote this story based on Rama and Sita's part A and B reading. The link and bibliography is at the end. I had heard the names and wanted to know the backstory between these people. It is a really interesting read and I reccomend it! Rama and Sita Part A and B This is a story of two kings who lived in a city full of bright and happy people. The birds chirped, the flowers swayed, and the sun shone brightly over the city. There is a king named Dasharatha who is sad because he has no sons from his three queens. Dasharatha's decided to do a Ashwamedha, or horse sacrifice, in order to have sons. The queens were incredibly happy on this sacrifice and were full of hope. The kingdom eld a ritual ceremony for the sacrifice upon its return.  Kaushayla, the chief queen began by slaying the horse.
